Share your personal perspective and provide other young people with disabilities with
inspiration, hope, support and the strength of solidarity.

It is super-important to us-as we know it is to you-that all messages we share are
positive ones delivered in a safe, respectful, uplifting and effective manner. So please be
sure to consider the following:

  • Have a valid YouTube account in order to upload your video.
  • Title and tag your video. Submit your work under the title "Access Envoy" and
personalize with your name, location and age. Example: "Access Envoy: Tom in NYC,
age 18" Use descriptive tags that will make it easier for others to find your video.
Examples: "Teen with low vision paints in spare time," "Boy who is blind dances," "Girl
who is deaf signs her original poem".
  • Quality and presentation matter. For best results, keep the following in mind:
Sound check please! If no one can hear what you're saying on your video, chances are
they won't bother to watch it all the way through. To avoid competing with background
noise, shoot in quiet surroundings and be sure to project your voice and enunciate clearly.
Don't ignore visual considerations. For instance, make sure images are in focus, the
camera is steady, and everything is properly lighted.
  • Include a caption script. If at all possible, send us a transcript of your video as a
caption file on YouTube. This will help make your video accessible to all people with
hearing disabilities, as well as international users who can avail themselves of Google
translate. And if you are signing with your video, we need your script too!
  • Don't use trademarked logos in your video This includes our logo, that of any of our
partner organizations, your school and/or group's trademarked logo.
  • Keep it upbeat. Celebrate, don't denigrate. Focus on what people with disabilities can
do in order to showcase and applaud all of their unique and special abilities.
  • Use your personal story to help bring us all together. Project Access is all about
many voices coming together with one common message: ensuring access for everyone
everywhere. In your role as an Access Envoy, make sure your voice is hear loud, clear and proud.
  • Own your personal truth. You and only you can tell your story. Speak with heart and
passion to show your commitment to our collective access community.
