New York City held its first Disability Pride parade on 12 July, marking the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which was signed into law on July 26, 1990.

Participants at the parade including: Daniela Bas (foreground, second from left), Director of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) Division for Social Policy and Development (DSPD); Oh Joon (second from left, second row), Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the UN; and United States Senator Tom Harkin (second row centre), one of the Congressional leaders instrumental in the enactment of the law.
