On July 12, NYC celebrated the 25th anniversary of the ADA with the first annual Disability Pride Parade. Mobility Ventures was proud to participate as the title sponsor of the event, with two MV-1's in the parade and more on display. Former U.S. Senator and author of the ADA, Tom Harkin was the Grand Marshal and kicked off the celebration with a statement of continued commitment to the ADA and the rights of people with disabilities. In his address, he also mentioned the MV-1 and the importance of purpose-built, universally accessible transportation. NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio and Victor Calise, Commissioner for the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities, also addressed the thousands of New Yorkers in attendance. Special guests also included NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer, Ms. Wheelchair New York Andrea Dalzell, Deputy Mayor of Gothenburg, Sweden, David Lega, UN representatives and more.

Following the march down Broadway, attendees gathered on Union Square for hours of entertainment in celebration of the landmark legislation. During the festivities, Mobility Ventures was proud to introduce the brand new 2016 MV-1 LX - the first ever purpose-built wheelchair accessible vehicle with a remote-controlled power door and ramp.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a powerful law that has changed the lives of so many people, and in many ways it is the foundation for the MV-1's very existence. We are proud to join together with our customers and the greater disabled community to celebrate the anniversary of this landmark act - and we'll be celebrating all month long!
